East Contra Costa Historical Museum opens for the 2018 season on
Saturday, April 7, 2018 1:00-4:00 p.m
Ending its winter hiatus, the East Contra Costa Historical Society announces the opening of its Museum and grounds to visitors on Saturdays and the third Sunday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. starting in April and continuing until the end of October.
Weather permitting, a celebration to honor Opening Day has been scheduled for Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Byer/Nail House Museum, 3890 Sellers Avenue, Brentwood/Knightsen (near the intersection of Sellers Avenue and Sunset Road).
The day will feature tours of the Museum by period-costumed docents, 30 minute school lessons in the renovated Eden Plain School, toe-tapping music provided by the Brentwood Concert Band, flag raising and Pledge of Allegiance, old-fashioned games for the children, along with several other family oriented events and displays. A show of local quilts entitled ‘Family Quilts ~ Community Heritage’ will be held.
Refreshments including home-made ice cream, lemonade, and cookies will be available. Join us for a lunch of hot dogs, chips and a soda for a nominal price.
East Contra Costa Historical Society hopes the area’s residents will join them in kicking off another year of Museum tours. The event is free to the public, although donations are always welcome to assist in the operational expenses of maintaining the Museum and its grounds. Come join in a day of fun on April 7th at the Museum.
